If you require a longer loan period because you are in a rural or remote health unit, ask LKC staff at the time you borrow the item. Generally, we don't provide long loans because resources need to be available to all library clients fairly.

The standard loan period for books and resources is 3 weeks; unless the item is a 7 day loan because it is in high demand.

If you are studying and need core textbooks for longer periods, consider purchasing a personal copy. Alternatively, contact your educational institution / university library for assistance. The LKC is not obliged to provide resources exclusively for study purposes.

The LKC can renew or extend your loans at any time if no other person has a reservation on the item. Or you can renew your loans directly online (up to 2 times).

We do not lend LKC items permanently to rural or remote health units. Items required for permanent loan by your health unit should be purchased with your cost centre. The LKC does not purchase resources for other units.

We appreciate that postal services to rural and remote health areas are slow and books / items can take a a long time to reach you. If you are having difficulties returning items to LKC, let us know and we'll make some alternative arrangements (eg express post bags).
